SUMMARY:What Energy Consultants Need to Know About HERS Features
DESCRIPTION:This class will cover the various Home Energy Rating Savings (HERS) tests that can modeled using California energy code’s “performance” approach\, commonly used in new constructions and additions. Before any energy consultant “checks the box and hopes for the best\,” they need to know about the resulting impacts on the builders and subcontractors in the field. Some HERS measures are easy to pass\, while some can be very difficult to pass if not well-planned and coordinated with the project team. \nAudience: \n\nEnergy consultants\nHERS raters\nBuilding department staff\nArchitects and designers\nContractors\, installers\, and builders\nHVAC specialists\nand other related fields\n\nRegister HERE

SUMMARY:Regional Forum: Improving Indoor Air Quality Through Better Buildings
DESCRIPTION:With threats to indoor air quality from wildfires\, viruses\, and greenhouse gas emissions\, the demand for health-focused building retrofits is greater than ever before. Energy efficiency can act as a tool to decrease indoor air pollution related to combustion\, leaky windows\, and poor ventilation. During this event\, attendees will hear from public health and energy experts about harnessing the nexus between healthy indoor air quality and building better buildings. 3C-REN will provide an overview of energy code requirements\, access to funding\, and resources\, and opportunities for training for building professionals. Forum attendees will also hear about health-focused indoor air quality in practice\, highlighting how local projects in the tri-county region have minimized the effects of poor indoor air quality. \nRegister HERE

SUMMARY:Mechanical Acceptance Test Technician Certification Provider Program (MATTCP)
DESCRIPTION:This course is an introduction to the Acceptance Test Technician Certification Provider (ATTCP) program and the certified Acceptance Test Technician (ATT) requirements for lighting controls and mechanical systems. Acceptance testing has been an Energy Code requirement since the 2008 code cycle\, but the ATTCP program is the first time that both compliance and enforcement can be systematically performed\, documented\, and  verified. \nTopics that will be addressed include: why acceptance testing is required in the Energy Code\, what role the ATTCP program plays\, recent actions by the California Energy Commission that make mechanical ATT certification mandatory\, and how contractors and inspectors can use the program to their best advantage. The intent of this course is to provide a basic understanding of the responsibilities and benefits to the builder\, contractor\, ATT\, and the building inspector. \nRegister HERE
