DESCRIPTION:In partnership with the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE)\, California Community College Chancellor’s Office is excited to offer faculty an opportunity to participate in one of ACUE’s programs in effective teaching practices.  \nStarting in January 2023\, faculty will be able to join one of ACUE’s microcredential cohorts:  \nInspiring Inquiry and Preparing Lifelong Learners \nAddresses practices from motivating students to using visualization tools that deepen learning and help students take greater ownership for their own learning. Faculty will learn practices from the following modules: \n\n Motivating Your Students\n Providing Clear Directions and Explanations\n Using Concept Maps and Other Visualization Tools\n Using Student Achievement and Feedback to Improve Your Teaching\n Using Advanced Questioning Techniques\n Developing Self-Directed Learners\n\nDesigning Student-Centered Courses \nAddresses the pedagogical approaches\, as well as some technical basics\, to help you design a course and course materials that support student success. Faculty will learn practices from the following modules: \n\nEstablishing Powerful Learning Outcomes\nAligning Assessments with Course Outcomes\nAligning Activities and Assignments with Course Outcomes\nDeveloping Fair\, Consistent\, and Transparent Grading Practices\nDeveloping and Using Rubrics and Checklists\nPreparing an Effective Syllabus\n\nInclusive Teaching for Equitable Learning \nProvides instructors with proven strategies to create a more equitable and just learning environment. Faculty will learn practices from the following modules: \n\nManaging the Impact of Bias\nReducing Microaggressions in Learning Environments\nAddressing Imposter Phenomenon and Stereotype Threat\nCreating Inclusive Learning Environments\nDesigning Equity-Centered Courses\n\nOver the course of 6-8 weeks\, you’ll learn about and implement a series of research-based teaching practices shown to improve student outcomes. Upon course completion\, you will earn a nationally-recognized Microcredential\, which are theonly college teaching credential endorsed by the American Council on Education (ACE).  \nJoin us for an interactive ACUE information session\, featuring an overview of the course-taker experience\, course expectations\, course structure and its goals for implementation\, and a short Q&A.
