Information & Communication Technology and Digital Media

Why ICT/DM?

Over the last generation or so, information communications technologies and digital media have spawned a paradigm shift in modern economies and societies. These technologies have permeated every industry and most organiza¬tions, changing ways companies operate and interact with customers and suppliers, how human beings organize and manage their lives, how people communicate, and how most workers do their work. ICT-DM is transforma¬tional, and ICT-DM companies in California include small businesses and many global leaders in this dynamic and quickly evolving space. ICT-DM is strategically important to individual citizens, to governments, to all industries, to most organizations, to all students, and for economic development, at every level.

Textbooks, Virtual Labs and Open Source Books

Reducing Costs for ICT Majors

Though most of my discussions are of ICT in nature, we have recently been discussing textbooks, virtual labs and open source books. The discussion is regarding how publishers are combining their labs to textbooks for a profit where we have an opportunity for free to student solution that can be expanded to other disciplines. Below are a few strains of conversation that you might find of interest. I plan to post an article regarding this on our regional website, is there anything else you would like to add?

Faculty Sequestered - not really

Healthcare Information Technology (HCIT)

Though I should be sleeping, I just had to write this blog! John Cordova (my colleague in Health) and I are with faculty from College of the Canyons, Saddleback College, Santa Barbara City College, and Industry partners developing wonderful statewide model curriculum for Healthcare Information Technology. This is such a wonderful experience and the quality of expertise is amazing! I feel really proud being part of this team - by the way, it’s worth giving up a Saturday!
