Allan Hancock College Receives the 2017 Pacific Region Equity Award from the Association of Community College Trustees

LAS VEGAS, NV – The Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) will award Allan Hancock College the 2017 Pacific Region Equity Award during ACCT’s Leadership Congress in Las Vegas, NV, Sept. 25-28, 2017.

“To have our work and effort be recognized by our peers and colleagues is a tremendous honor,” says Allan Hancock College Superintendent/President Kevin G. Walthers, Ph.D. “The true credit belongs with our board of trustees, faculty, staff and administrators. They are dedicated to changing the odds for our community and ensuring everyone has an opportunity to succeed.”

The Community College League of California (League) is pleased to congratulate Allan Hancock College for receiving the 2017 Pacific Region Equity Award. As a designated Hispanic Serving Institution, Allan Hancock serves a large population of first-generation and low-income, minority students in the Santa Barbara area.

Allan Hancock College will receive the Pacific Region Equity Award at ACCT’s Annual Awards Gala on Wednesday, September 27th.

ACCT is a non-profit educational organization representing more than 6,500 elected and appointed trustees who govern 1,200 community, technical and junior colleges in the United States and beyond. Annually, the association recognizes the outstanding achievements of community college trustees, equity programs, chief executive officers, faculty, and professional board staff members. Awards are given in each of ACCT’s five regions across the nation. These award recipients demonstrate exceptional leadership and service, and their achievements have helped to define their institutions as places of outstanding education and student success.
