Business & Entrepreneurship: Funding for Student Internships and Faculty Externships

The California Community Colleges Workforce and Economic Development Program Business and Entrepreneurship Sector is seeking applications for following two student internship/faculty externship projects:

  1. Nasdaq Entrepreneurial Center Student Internship/faculty externship project
  • Seeking 15 colleges to place student interns/faculty externs (mentors) at Nasdaq Startup Companies across the state (see attached flyer)
  • $2,500 Stipends for faculty externs (mentors)
  • Student Internships can be paid or unpaid by Nasdaq Startup Companies
  • Students are encouraged to enroll in college work experience programs to earn college credit
  1. Governor’s Office DOD Office of Economic Adjustment (OEA) CASCADE Grant student internship/faculty externship project
  • Seeking 20 colleges to place student interns/faculty externs (mentors) at DoD Small Business Innovation and Research (SBIR) or Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Phase I, II, or III firms to assist the firms with cybersecurity readiness/compliance and assist with commercialization of the SBIR firm’s proposed innovations
  • $8,000 stipends for faculty
  • Student wages will be 100% subsidized by the grant at a burdened rate of $20/hr (up to 240 hours per DOD SBIR firm)
  • Students are encouraged to enroll in college work experience programs to earn college credit
