Faculty Spotlight – Kevin Corse – Oxnard College

ASCCC News: Kevin is an outstanding teacher and colleague. He creates a classroom environment that is not only entertaining but also keeps the students engaged. He puts the education of his students above all else, often sacrificing any extra time he has to ensure that all of his students succeed. He is well known throughout the campus as a kind and caring person who is never above offering a helping hand. During his time at Oxnard College, he has been part of countless committees and has even presented at state conferences. He is quickly becoming known in these circles for his wealth of knowledge gained not only from his time here but also from his time spent teaching at the local high school. He balances life as an educator with running his auto repair business, being Head Scout Leader for the local Boy Scout troop, and helping anyone he runs into. Two of his most recent accolades include setting up a collaborative event between the Girls Scouts of Ventura County and the Oxnard College Automotive program, where we hosted 15 Girl Scouts at our facility and instructed them on automotive service and repair so that they could earn their Car Care Badge. The second accomplishment was establishing a Memorandum of Understanding between the College and Vista Ford of Oxnard. This MOU created a partnership with the local dealership which allows Vista Ford to provide our students with Industry Level Ford technician training along with supplying our facility with items to enhance student learning, such as, donated vehicles, tools, and supplemental material. Kevin is constantly trying to improve the program for our students and give them the best opportunity to succeed in the automotive industry!
